FEATURE ANIMATION @
SCAD VISUAL EFFECTS

Gabriel led his team of visual effects students @ Savannah College of Art and Design to conceptualize, design and create a full-length creature animation and effects work for a feature film produced in Australia.

JANE AND THE DRAGON @ WETA PRODUCTIONS

Gabriel worked on an exciting animation series at Weta Productions as their lead compositor. The project shared the same facility where they shot and produced Lord Of The Rings, Nardia and King Kong.

VISUAL EFFECTS SUPERVISION @ HUHUS NEW ZEALAND

Gabriel started as the compositor at Huhu Studios, and continued to work as their visual effects supervisor for their animated feature Noah’s Ark. He had worked on feature animation, and animated TV series. Alongside his production commitment, he taught at Lifeway Animation College to foster internships and job placements at the studio.


MacDonald’s Big Mac Advertising Campaign

Gabriel supervised and co-directed a McDonald's advertising campaign in California with Heavy Crown Media. He integrated this project into his Portfolio Development and Design curriculum at the University of the Pacific, giving his students hands-on industry production film and advertising workflow experience, and allowing them to contribute their tremendous creativity to the project. The endeavour was a huge success, which resulted in Heavy Crown Media winning the bid for the regional McDonald's advertising campaign.

DIGITAL MEDIA PROGRAMME @ NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Gabriel was invited to head the Digital Media Department at the New York Institute of Technology - Beijing campus. He introduced the studio-based curriculum to the faculty and had led multiple projects with his students to work on industry film and media projects. His postgraduate students continued their studies successfully in New York, and many are now working at renowned facilities such as Tencent Games, and BaseFX film studio.

ANIMATION PROGRAMME @
NMIT NEW ZEALAND

Gabriel was invited to lead and develop the new animation and game design programme at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. Working with renowned film and game studios in New Zealand and Los Angeles, he successful set up their animation lab and post-production studio, and completed the level 5-7 Post-Diploma Bachelor programme which is endorsed by NZQA and Weta Digital.

3D PROSTHETIC EYE @
GISBORNE NEW ZEALAND

Harnessing the latest 3D technology, Gabriel collaborated with OphthalmicDocs in the investigation of an eye tumour using Zbrush to dissect and clean up a series of CT scans, designed and printed prototypes of a realistic facial skin reconstruction following our physical measurements of the patient to ensure a seamless fit.

REVIVING CULTURE @
TAI’O FISHING VILLAGE

Motion design students and Gabriel’s visual effects students embarked on a project to promote the culture of a fishing village off an island in Hong Kong. The team produced a short film that told the stories of the fishermen, a stark contrast to the busy landscape in the heart of the city.

HOUDINI FX MASTERCLASS @
XI’AN, CHINA

Gabriel and Anton @ FX TD from Weta Digital collaborated on a 4-week visual effects masterclass for industry professionals and teachers in Xi'an, a historically famed city in China for her astounding traditional arts and culture over thousands of years.

CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIES @ AUT NEW ZEALAND

Gabriel led and designed the animation programme at Creative Technologies @ AUT. He had taught and supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Many of his students had worked at renowned companies and studios internationally, including Weta Digital in Wellington, New Zealand.

VISUAL EFFECTS TRAINING @ GISBORNE NEW ZEALAND

Gabriel conducted visual effects workshopS for students and teachers who were keen to venture into 3D animation and VR technology. The workshop opened up projects and research opportunities between our students with doctors and engineers in Gisborne.

Gabriel spent a day with Raven Ivey’s medical detectives and science classes at Admiral Moorer Middle School in Alabama to share with her students about how creativity and emerging 3D technology can help transform lives.

AIRCRAFT VISUALIZATION @
HAECO HONG KONG

Gabriel and his visual effects students at SCAD collaborated and worked with one of the largest aircraft engineers in Hong Kong - HAECO. The students produced a series of VR visualization for their design of a new proposed business-class aircraft interior. Updating real-time project content - check out the production blog shortly.

Gabriel extends his visual effects crafts into motion graphics branding and design for universities and media programmes worldwide. Students learn to harness their media knowledge in personal branding, and creating their portfolios for clients and employment.
